For many dancers, it's a magical moment: standing on pointe shoes for the first time. But as light-footed as it looks later on, getting there takes patience, strength and the right preparation.
When is the right time?
Only with strong foot and core muscles can you dance safely and healthily "on pointe". Therefore: At least 1-2 years of classic training are mandatory before you put on your first pointe shoes. Your body must be ready for it!
Fitting pointe shoes correctly
A pointe shoe is as individual as your dance style. Seek advice from a specialist store - the fit, the hardness of the box and the correct ligament tension must fit your feet perfectly. This is the only way to avoid injuries and grow safely.
Tip for getting started:
Which pointe shoes for beginners? - Always get your first pointe shoes from the Professional.
And don't forget: Take your time! Your feet need getting used to, your technique needs sensitivity. If you start slowly, you'll stay healthy for longer - and keep the joy of dancing.
